Howdy. G’Day. How’s it going?
If you’re reading this, you probably already know who I am; or this blog really went in a direction I was not expecting. But just to recap:
I’m Kendall. I’m 30, nonbinary, and still very much figuring things out.
I’m a Tennessean by birth, but a Chicagoan by trial — I survived 6 winters, complete with polar vortices. There was a stopover at The University of Evansville for 4 years between, and Florida’s where I’ve been for the last year and a half or so. Soon, however, I’ll be starting a new adventure in Aotearoa — also known as New Zealand!
I’ve been granted a Working Holiday Visa, so I’ll be backpacking around one of the most beautiful countries in the world for a whole year; taking odd jobs here and there to fund my travels. In the research I’ve been doing (you should see the spreadsheets, maybe I’ll do a post on them), I’ve found literally hundreds of museums, hikes, cafés, local libraries, hostels, and so so much more that I want to see. So many, in fact, there’s no way I’ll be able to see it all — but I’ll certainly try. I have a little more than the first week planned out, but after that will depend on who I meet and what opportunities present themselves.
Full disclosure, I’m not much for “curating an online presence,” so bear with me if this blog turns out to be somewhat underwhelming. But if you can get past my lack of web design expertise and my amateur photography (emphasis on amateur), this’ll be the place to come for updates on my travels.
So follow along. Or don’t. I won’t really know one way or another, I’ll just be keeping my lil’ blog here for you or anyone to read. Who knows, maybe we can both get something from this experience.
